In Merchandise Plan, when you flow on order to receipts or put in receipts plan, or basically set the beginning inventory, you can use the Generate Inventory function to project inventory positions over the selected time frame. You can either use the manual Generate Inventory function or you can turn on the Auto Generate Inventory mode on and the system automatically calculates the inventory positioning.
Manual Generate Inventory
Right click on the grid
Go to Functions
Select Generate Inventory

Looking at a Future Time Frame
Let's say you are looking at a future time frame plan data, only the first time frame will be editable for you to adjust inventory positioning.
Looking at a Time Frame including Current Week/Month
Actualize Scenario is on
Let's say you are looking at a time frame data where the actualization is turned on, then you will not be able to edit the current time frame or other time frames that you see on the plan.
Actualize Scenario is off
Let's say you are looking at a time frame data where the actualization is turned off and you are looking at the plan data only, then you will be able to edit the current time frame.
Looking at a past time frame
Actualize Scenario is on
Let's say you are looking at a time frame data where the actualization is turned on, then Generate Inventory function will be disabled.
Actualize Scenario is off
Let's say you are looking at a past time frame data where the actualization is turned off and you are looking at the plan data only, then Generate Inventory function will be disabled.
Auto Generate Inventory
To turn on the Auto Generate Inventory, follow the steps below:
On Merchandise Plan, click on the Scenario menu on the right
Check the on Auto Generate Inventory checkbox
Your scenario will now automatically generate inventory for you
