Overview
Dynamic Grouping is the third component on the top of your interface. It enables you to:
Create new custom groups based on criteria you define (e.g., department, category)
Edit existing groups
Delete groups you no longer need
This feature is especially useful for segmenting data in meaningful ways by any attribute, such as by vendor, department etc - e.g., Group the following attributes "Accessories, Hats, Jewellery" into single 'All Accessories' group that you want to plan as a single group.
How to Create a Dynamic Group
Open the Dynamic Grouping Menu
Click on the Dynamic Grouping component at the top of the interface.
Start Creating a Group
Click Create. A pop-up window will open.
Name Your Group
Enter a clear, descriptive name.
For example: All Accessories
Assign any attribute you'd like to create a new group
Specify the attribute that belongs in this group.
Example: Department: Hats, Accessories, Jewellery.
Click Add
This action confirms the addition of your new dynamic group.
You can repeat these steps to create multiple groups at once, each with its own name and assigned items.
In the following example, Department:"Clothing and Footwear" is Grouped into "Other Deps".
.
Creating Multiple Dynamic Groups
You can define multiple Dynamic Groups at once.
For example, one for category and others for department.
When you apply these groups, you'll see checkboxes that allow you to select which groups to activate.
Editing and Deleting Dynamic Groups
To edit a group:
Open it from the Dynamic Grouping menu.
Click on the edit button
Change the name or add/delete attributes that define your dynamic group.
Save your changes.
To delete a group:
Click Delete button next to the Dynamic Group in the dropdown.
Editing the Metrics of a Dynamic Group
Once you've created your groups, you can use them in reports and calculations:
When you apply a group (e.g., All Accessories), it aggregates all its metrics from Accessories, Hats, and Jewellery.
Editing values inside a group will apply proportionally per spread.
For instance, if you double a value of the aggregated group All Accessories (e.g., from 13 million to 26 million) and save:
All items in that group (Hats, Accessories, Jewellery) will reflect the doubled amount as it'll be spreaded down into your defined grouping.
For the following example, doubling the Dynamic Group: "Other Deps", will spread down that doubling to its defined leafs and you can see that by removing the Dynamic Grouping as seen below.
Final Notes
Dynamic Grouping makes it easy to plan, manage and analyze data by logical segments. Use it to:
Organize your data clearly.
Make planning easier.
Quickly adjust values and see their impact.
