Toolio is a flexible platform that allows you to update the Attributes that you plan by on the fly. Let's say that you have been building out plans by merchandise hierarchy, e.g. department and category, and want to add subcategory as a planning attribute as well.

1. Create a new Option

First of all, Planning Attributes can only be of type single-select. In other words, Options for the Planning attribute have to be created beforehand. If you have already created the Option for this planning attribute, you can skip this step.

Otherwise, please follow the steps for creating a new Option.

2. Create a Planning Attribute

Go to Settings > Data Management > Attributes and click "Add".

3. Re-Process Historical Data

If you would like your historical data to reflect this new attribute, Toolio will need to re-populate actuals information. If you need help with this, please reach out to your Customer Success manager.

4. Enable Planning Attribute in Merchandise Plan

To enable a new Planning Attribute, go to Settings > Data Management > Options. Right click the cell in the "Included in MP" column corresponding to the correct attribute, select "Include in Merchandise Plan".

Note: Please note that all attributes you have on your products will automatically be included in Item Plan. So, while it makes sense to add an attribute to Merchandise Plan, you should only be adding non-product attributes (typically channel) to Item Plan. If you have questions about what to add to Item Plan, it's best to ask your Customer Success Manager.

5. Add Attribute to Your Plan

Once the Planning Attribute has been created, you will need to add that to your plan. You can do this by:

  • Group Merchandise Plan by the New Attribute

  • Right click on the Plan variant for an Option

  • Add New Attribute Option
