Generate Inventory Function in Item Plan

How to update Receipts or Inventory without generating a new receipt plan.

Updated over a week ago

In Item Plan, inventory values are typically updated via the Receipt Generation process. There may be instances, however, where you want to manually plan or calculate Receipts and Inventory. For example, you may not intend to place any new POs for a style you plan to sell through. For these instances you can use the Generate Inventory function.

Generate Inventory

As you make changes to your Sales, Receipts, Returns, Markdowns or Discounts, you will need to enable the Generate Inventory function. To do so, right click in the grid and select Generate Inventory. This will generate inventory from the first available timeframe which is the current week. Alternatively, you can just use the keyboard shortcut cmd + i to generate inventory starting from the current time. (See here for more on keyboard shortcuts.)

You will notice a banner at the top of the screen that indicates the function and the starting time frame that these changes will impact.

Once you are in this function, Toolio will update your current inventory plans. From there, you are able to make adjustments on the fly and preview the changes in real time. If you are comfortable with the plans, you can complete the workflow and save your changes, otherwise you can cancel and revert back to your prior plans.

Generate Receipts From WOS

If you have a WOS goal that you are planning, include the Gross WOS Units metric and set the output to Receipt Units.

Before you start entering in values you will need to select the Generate Inventory function.

You will notice a banner at the top of the screen that indicates the function and the starting time frame that these changes will impact. Note that no time frames ahead of the indicated week or month will be affected by changes.

Once you are in this function, Toolio will update your current receipt plans to match the WOS of plans you will input. From there, you are able to make adjustments on the fly and preview the changes in real time. If you are comfortable with the plans, you can complete the workflow and save your changes, otherwise you can cancel and revert back to your prior plans.
