To make sure that year end inventory is matching up with the year beginning inventory you have 2 options:
Make sure that you go to the previous year and run generate inventory. This will update the BOP of the next year.
Alternatively, in your MP, expose multiple years at the same time by selecting a custom date range, and run generate inventory starting from the pervious year.
