Custom MOQ Definition

This article explains how to create a minimum order quantity definition through configuration, with the ability to consider multiple attributes while aggregating to MOQ requirements.

Updated today

Overview

When generating purchase orders, Toolio automatically applies Minimum Order Quantities (MOQ) at the Size, Color, and Style level. These rules can work individually or together to ensure each purchase order meets the required MOQ.

With the custom MOQ feature, you can also define custom rules that combine multiple product attributes. This is especially useful when suppliers set requirements that span beyond just size, color, or style.

Example:

Suppose a manufacturer requires a minimum production run of 1,000 units per fabric/color combination to keep their operations efficient. Toolio’s MOQ logic will group all SKUs that share the same fabric and color, ensuring the combined order quantity meets the 1,000-unit requirement.

Defining a new MOQ

Users have the ability to define new MOQs in settings > attributes. This could include single, or multi-attribute MOQs.

Add an Attribute

first, add a variant attribute, define a logical name, set the type to number and storage as core. the slug will be auto generated.

Define the attribute conditions

Next, navigate to Settings > Attributes and find the attribute you created within the variant model. Right click and and select "edit as MOQ".

Here you will define the fields to consider when aggregating the planned receipts from SKU level up to the defined level. In the example below, you will notice that two attributes have been selected, Fabric and Color. You have the option of selecting one or more attributes when creating a new MOQ field.

The order number specified the order in which the MOQ will be applied, if you decide to create additional MOQ requirements, you must order them according to how they should be considered by the purchase order optimizer. Custom MOQ fields will always be applied on top of the default Size, Color and Style level MOQs if they exist.

Set the custom MOQ

Either via import on the slug or through the Product & Variant master data screen, users can now define the MOQ needed across SKUs for the specific custom MOQ created. In this example, the fabric and color combination is grouped to set the appropriate MOQ.
