[BETA] Ability to create your own dashboards across MP and IP

In this help article, we'll cover all you need to know to about User Created Dashboards. The following content will be covered in this article.

Viewing Dashboards

In order to view your Dashboards, you'd need to navigate to Dashboard module from the top navigation bar. Once you are on Dashboards module, you'll be prompted with the first Dashboard tab : 'Performance' that is created for you by Toolio.

Creating Dashboards

Now, if you'd like to create your first own Dashboard, follow the steps defined below:

  1. Click on the pen icon on the top right hand-side which enables the Editing mode.

  2. Now click on '+' icon to create your Dashboard tab.

  3. You'll be prompted with a pop-up to give a name to your dashboard

  4. Then hit CREATE

  5. System has created the Dashboard for you and it is added to your Dashboards list on top. Now it is time to create widgets for your dashboard.

To Delete a Dashboard,

  1. Click on the 3 dots under the Edit-check icon

  2. Then Select Delete Dashboard

Viewing Widgets

In view mode, the widgets have 4 components. These are

  • Title - the title of your widget

  • Top-right open browser icon , you'll be taken to the view that this dashboard is based on

  • Top-right refresh icon, will refresh your widget with the latest data

  • The widget itself, it can be either

    • A chart widget with

      • Legends,

      • Chart Titles on the axis,

      • And the charts itself

    • A grid widget with

      • The grid itself with grid summary section

    • A number widget with

      • Multiple or single metrics for a given time-frame

      • It can have comparison variants for the same metric such as LY, Plan etc

    • By clicking on a legend, you can remove that metric from your widget and you can focus on the remaining metrics that you are interested in.

Creating Widgets

Number Widget

The number widget is used to highlight key metrics and their comparison to additional variants of the same metric.

You can select any time-frame that is available on your view to be displayed on your number widget.

You can add multiple metrics or a single metric in your widget or create separate number widgets per your use case.

We'll cover the common widget components in the relevant section below.

To create a Number Widget please follow the instructions below

  1. Click on the three dots icon below the editing status icon

  2. Select Create Widget > Number Widget from the options

  3. System will open a pop-up for you to configure your widget

    1. Give your widget a name

    2. Select the data source

      1. Module: IP or MP

      2. View (must be created prior to widget creation)

    3. Then Click on +Add Metric button

      1. Select the desired metric from the defined view

      2. Select the variant that is desired as the primary metric

        1. If you'd like to compare this metric by selecting a variant, make multiple selection

      3. Select the time-groups that is available from your view, you can make a single or multiple selection, in this case it'll be shown as separate boxes within your number widgets

    4. If you'd like to add more metrics to your Number widget, do so by +Add Metric button.

    5. If you'd like to remove a metric that you defined, simply click on the Delete button under the relevant metric section

    6. If you've defined multiple metrics and you'd like to change the order of them, click on the drag&drop icon and drag to change the order among the metrics.

  4. When you are ready, click on CREATE button.

  5. Then system will add this Number Widget to your dashboard.

Grid Widget

The grid widget is used to provide reporting by using the previously created Views in MP and IP within the Dashboard section as a common library of your Reports for a quick access.

You can select any view that is available on the selected view to be displayed on your dashboard as a Grid Widget.

All the view configuration is done on the individual module view, such as sections, conditional formatting etc. And those properties will be shown exactly how it is shown on your view.

We'll cover the common widget components in the relevant section below.

To create a Grid Widget please follow the instructions below

  1. Click on the three dots icon below the editing status icon

  2. Select Create Widget > Grid Widget from the options

  3. System will open a pop-up for you to configure your widget

    1. Give your widget a name

    2. Select the data source

      1. Module: IP or MP

      2. View (must be created prior to widget creation)

  4. When you are ready, click on CREATE button.

  5. Then system will add this Grid Widget to your dashboard.

Chart Widget

The chart widget is used to provide visual reporting by using the previously created Views in MP and IP within the Dashboard section.

You can select any time-frame or attribute grouping that is available on your view to be displayed on your chart widget.

You can add multiple metrics or a single metric with different chart types in your widget or create separate chart widgets per your use case.

We'll cover the common widget components in the relevant section below.

To create a Chart Widget please follow the instructions below

  1. Click on the three dots icon below the editing status icon

  2. Select Create Widget > Chart Widget from the options

  3. System will open a pop-up for you to configure your widget

    1. Give your widget a name

    2. Select the data source

      1. Module: IP or MP

      2. View (must be created prior to widget creation)

    3. Select the Grouping

      1. Can be an attribute if configured on your data-source view this will show up

      2. Can be timeframe level aggregation, again, as configured in your data-source view

    4. Then Click on +Add Metric button

      1. Select the desired metric from the defined view

      2. Select the chart type that is desired to be shown on the dashboard

      3. Select the coloring for your chart

      4. By default all metrics will be using the left axis, however, if you are defining multiple metrics, you may want to use two different y-axis for the metric values. In that case, select Right Axis checkbox as true.

      5. By default all data-labels will be off, however, if you prefer to show data points on your chart, please select Data Label checkbox as true.

      6. By default Trend Line will be turned off, however, if you would like to show Trend Line select that checkbox as true.

        1. Select the coloring for your Trend Line

    5. If you'd like to add more metrics to your Number widget, do so by +Add Metric button.

    6. If you'd like to remove a metric that you defined, simply click on the Delete button under the relevant metric section

    7. If you've defined multiple metrics and you'd like to change the order of them, click on the drag&drop icon and drag to change the order among the metrics. This will determine the order of your charts.

      1. For example, if you have a bar vs line, you'd want the line on top of the bar if they overlap. Therefore, define your bar as the first metric, then your line chart's metric as the second.

  4. When you are ready, click on CREATE button.

  5. Then system will add this Chart Widget to your dashboard.

Common Widget Components

In Editing mode, you get two additional components to what you already have on the View mode. These two are

  1. The drag&drop icon to change the order of the widget within the dashboard

  2. Is the menu icon which includes

    1. Editing the Widget

    2. Deleting the Widget

    3. View of the Widget which can be either a Full-Width or Half-Width

Editing and Deleting Widgets

You can Edit and Delete Widgets from your Dashboards. To do so, follow the instructions below:

  1. Click on the 3 dots icon on the widget,

  2. Click on Edit for enabling the edit mode, which will take you to the creation pop-up as we covered in the Creating Widgets section.

  3. Click on Delete for deleting the widget from your Dashboard
