Set up new allocation strategies without seeding from New AP
Use this workflow when a user needs to create new allocation strategies and are not seeding them from New AP.
Note: Allocation strategies should be set up at least the length of the longest lead time (allocation to store arrival) before the strategy start date. This ensures allocations can be executed in time for product to arrive in stores as planned.
Step 1: Set up allocation defaults
Start by configuring allocation defaults.
Allocation defaults help speed up strategy setup by automatically filling in common, recurring fields.
If more than one default could apply, arrange them in priority order. The default higher on the list is applied first, so place the one that should take precedence at the top.
Step 2: Filter to the right group of items
Before making updates, the user should filter to the group of items that need strategies assigned.
If the business has an attribute that identifies the relevant season or time period, the user can use that attribute to narrow the list. For example, if strategies are being set up for Fall 2026, filtering to Fall 2026 will reduce the number of strategies displayed. Not all customers will have this type of attribute, but it is highly recommended to manage one in the ERP system when setting up allocations outside of Assortment Plan seeding. This makes it much easier to identify which items need an allocation strategy.
To get there, click the three dots on the far right, then click the toggle to view inactive strategies.
Step 3: Select the strategies to activate
Once the list is filtered, the user can select all strategies that should be created.
Step 4: Activate the strategies
Right-click and choose Activate.
When the strategies are activated, Toolio automatically applies the allocation defaults.
Step 5: Complete any remaining fields
After activation, the user only needs to add any remaining details that were not covered by the defaults.
For example, fields such as ROS Model or Total Sales may still need to be filled in.
