How Do I Build and Check Rollups Widgets with Tooli?

Ask Tooli about the widgets in the Assortment Plan Rollups panel, check them for problems, and add or change widgets on your own tabs.

Tooli works with the Rollups panel in Assortment Plan. It reads the widgets on your tabs, explains their numbers, checks them for common problems, and builds new widgets or changes existing ones for you.

Tooli never saves on its own. Every new widget or change shows up as a proposal in the panel, and nothing is saved until you click Apply.

Use Cases

  • Asking what a widget shows — "what does the Season Scorecard tell me?"

  • Finding widgets that need attention — a variant with no data, a percentage that looks too big, a table without a Top N

  • Building a tab of widgets from a sentence instead of filling in the widget form

  • Changing several widgets at once, for example adding Act LY to every widget on a tab

Before You Start

Open Assortment Plan, open the Rollups panel, then open Tooli. Tooli works with the panel only while it is open on the page.

Asking About Your Widgets

Ask about a widget by its title, or about the whole tab. Tooli reads the numbers as the cards show them, using the same dataset, filters and timeframe you have open.

Tooli explaining the numbers on the Sales Overview card

Tooli reads the tab you have open. If you ask about another tab, Tooli opens it for you, the same as clicking it, and you see the tab change.

If a tab is still loading, Tooli waits a few seconds and tells you it's waiting. After about 30 seconds it stops and asks you to tell it when the data is in.

Checking Widgets for Problems

Ask "is anything wrong with the widgets on this tab?" and Tooli checks each widget for common problems. It explains what it found and the usual fix:

  • Dashes or a variant with no data: often a Merchandise Plan variant grouped by an attribute the plan doesn't use.

  • Very large changes: up 200% or more, or down 90% or more, including the "vs" figures on a number card. A big drop often means the plan or the compared variant holds wrong or partial data.

  • ∞% variances: the base is close to zero.

  • Row labels that are numbers: group by a name, such as Title instead of Style No.

  • A grouped table without a Top N: the rows come back in no useful order.

  • A Top N with empty rows: fewer groups sell than the Top N asks for.

  • A stock metric on Total: a Total of BOP, EOP or On Hand only takes the first week.

  • Act against Plan on Total: in season, compare on To Date, or use Act / Plan.

  • A period that hasn't started: expected on a pre-season dataset.

Adding Widgets

Describe the widgets you want, and Tooli proposes up to 6 at a time. It uses the same metrics, variants, time groups and Top N options as the Add Widget dialog, including distinct counts and Act / Plan.

A Tooli suggestion at the top of the Rollups panel: a new Private tab with its description and a proposed widget with its checkbox

The proposal appears above the tabs, marked Tooli suggestion. Each widget is shown as a real card with your data, so you can judge it before saving it.

  • Every widget has an Add this widget checkbox, checked to start. Uncheck the ones you don't want.

  • Click Apply to save the checked widgets, or Dismiss to drop the proposal. When some are unchecked, the button reads Apply selected with the number it will save.

Changing Widgets

Ask Tooli to change a widget, or several. For example, "make the Top 10 table a Top 5 and add Plan".

A proposed change shown as Now and After the change, side by side, with its checkbox

Each change shows the widget as it is now and after the change, side by side. Uncheck any change you don't want, then click Apply. The widget is updated in place and keeps its position on the tab.

To adjust a proposal, just ask, for example "change the first one to show Act and Plan". Tooli keeps the rest of the proposal as it was. A new request replaces the proposal on screen.

Tooli remembers what you unchecked or dismissed. It doesn't bring those widgets back in its next proposal unless you ask for them.

Where Tooli Can Save

Tooli only saves to your own Private tabs:

  • New widgets go to the tab you have open if it is your Private tab. Otherwise Tooli creates a new Private tab for them, with a name and a one-line description you see in the proposal.

  • Tooli only changes widgets on your own Private tab.

  • Toolio tabs, shared tabs and other people's tabs stay as they are. Tooli offers to put a changed copy on your Private tab instead.

To share a tab Tooli created, change its permission from the tab menu, the same as any other tab.

FAQs

Does Tooli save anything without asking me?

No. Tooli only proposes. Nothing is saved until you click Apply, and Dismiss drops the whole proposal.

Why does Tooli say it can't see my Rollups panel?

Tooli works with the panel only when Assortment Plan is open with the Rollups panel showing. Open the panel and ask again.

Why did Tooli switch my tab?

You asked about a tab that wasn't open, and Tooli can only read the open tab. It opened that tab the same way you would.

What happens if saving stops partway?

The widgets that were saved stay saved, and the proposal keeps only the ones that weren't. Click Apply again to save the rest. While Tooli saves, the tabs are locked, so every widget lands on the tab it was meant for.

Can Tooli delete widgets?

No. Tooli can add and change widgets on your Private tabs. To delete a widget, use the 3 dots menu on the widget.

Can Tooli change a Toolio tab?

No. Toolio tabs are read-only. Ask Tooli to put a changed copy on your own Private tab instead.

Can I edit a widget Tooli added?

Yes. It's an ordinary widget. Click the 3 dots menu on the widget and choose Edit.
