Once you are in an Assortment Plan (see Creating a new Assortment article here for more), the next is creating your placeholder choices (previously aka line items) for you assortment.

In the new Assortment Plan, there are 5 different ways to create a placeholder choice depending on your use case.

Let's explore each option below.

Creating a new style

If your use case is to create a brand-new style which is very different than what you can refer in previous assortments, then you can use 'Add New Style' to create a new placeholder.

This option will create a new placeholder with

  • a unique Style number

  • a unique Color Code

  • same Launch and End Date as Assortment

To create a new style, right click on the Assortment Plan grid and select 'Add New Style'.

Please note that, in order to save your placeholder, you need to enter a Cluster Group for that choice.

Creating a new choice

If your use case is to create a choice of a previously created style, then you can use 'Add New Choice' to create a new placeholder.

This option will create a new placeholder with

  • the same Style Number as the referenced choice

  • a unique Color Code

  • same Launch and End Date as Assortment

To create a new choice, select a reference placeholder choice, and then right click on the Assortment Plan grid and select 'Add New Choice'.

Please note that, in order to save your placeholder, you need to enter a Cluster Group for that choice.

Creating a duplicate of a choice

If your use case is to duplicate a choice that is previously created which may or may not have metrics created, then you can use 'Duplicate Choice(s)' to create an identical new placeholder. Please note that, duplicate action will also copy the metrics of the original choice to the new placeholder.

This option will create a new placeholder identical to the reference choice

  • Attributes

    • Launch and End Dates will be empty for user to enter

  • Metrics

To create a duplicate choice, select a reference placeholder choice, and then right click on the Assortment Plan grid and select 'Duplicate Choice(s)'.

Notice below, that even though no forecast function is run for the duplicate choice, the metrics are also copied from the original referenced choice.

Creating a new like-for-like placeholder choice

If your use case is to create a new like-for-like choice which is very similar to a previous choice that you can refer in previous assortments, then you can use the 'Compare' functionality and 'New like-for-like placeholder' to create a new placeholder.

  • an empty Style number

  • same title with '(Placeholder)' prefix

  1. Open the 'Compare' mode by clicking on the Compare button

You can use this to continue a choice from previous assortments into the new assortment timeframe.

This option will not create a new choice but will extend the end date of the reference choice

  • the End Date is extended to the Assortment's End Date

    • Launch date is not changed

  • no attributes are changed

  • ROS Model is defined by the choice id that is defined in choice definition-

    • Choice id is based on your reference like-for-like choice

This option will create a new assigned choice with

  • same Launch and End Date as Assortment

  • same attributes as the reference choice

  • Note that ROS Model will not be applied to this choice

To create a new actual choice,

  1. Open the 'Style Bank' mode by clicking on the Style Bank button

  2. Select your actual choice(s)
