Once you are in an Assortment Plan (see Creating a new Assortment article here for more), the next is creating your placeholder choices (previously aka line items) for you assortment.
In the new Assortment Plan, there are 5 different ways to create a placeholder choice depending on your use case.
Let's explore each option below.
Creating a new style
If your use case is to create a brand-new style which is very different than what you can refer in previous assortments, then you can use 'Add New Style' to create a new placeholder.
This option will create a new placeholder with
a unique Style number
a unique Color Code
same Launch and End Date as Assortment
To create a new style, right click on the Assortment Plan grid and select 'Add New Style'.
Please note that, in order to save your placeholder, you need to enter a Cluster Group for that choice.
Creating a new choice
If your use case is to create a choice of a previously created style, then you can use 'Add New Choice' to create a new placeholder.
This option will create a new placeholder with
the same Style Number as the referenced choice
a unique Color Code
same Launch and End Date as Assortment
To create a new choice, select a reference placeholder choice, and then right click on the Assortment Plan grid and select 'Add New Choice'.
Please note that, in order to save your placeholder, you need to enter a Cluster Group for that choice.
Creating a duplicate of a choice
If your use case is to duplicate a choice that is previously created which may or may not have metrics created, then you can use 'Duplicate Choice(s)' to create an identical new placeholder. Please note that, duplicate action will also copy the metrics of the original choice to the new placeholder.
This option will create a new placeholder identical to the reference choice
Attributes
Launch and End Dates will be empty for user to enter
Metrics
To create a duplicate choice, select a reference placeholder choice, and then right click on the Assortment Plan grid and select 'Duplicate Choice(s)'.
Notice below, that even though no forecast function is run for the duplicate choice, the metrics are also copied from the original referenced choice.
Creating a new like-for-like placeholder choice
If your use case is to create a new like-for-like choice which is very similar to a previous choice that you can refer in previous assortments, then you can use the 'Compare' functionality and 'New like-for-like placeholder' to create a new placeholder.
This option will create a new placeholder with
an empty Style number
same title with '(Placeholder)' prefix
same Launch and End Date as Assortment
same attributes as the reference choice
ROS Model is defined by the choice id that is defined in choice definition-
To create a new like-for-like placeholder choice,
Open the 'Compare' mode by clicking on the Compare button
Select your reference like-for-like choice(s)
Right click on the Compare grid and
Select 'New like-for-like placeholder' option
Please note that, in order to save your placeholder, you need to enter a Cluster Group for that choice.
Creating a Repeat choice
If your use case is to create a repeat choice which is exactly the same actual choice that you refer in previous assortments, then you can use the 'Compare' functionality and 'Repeat' to create a new placeholder.
This option will create a new assigned choice with
same Launch and End Date as Assortment
same attributes as the reference choice
ROS Model is defined by the choice id that is defined in choice definition-
The only difference to like-for-like placeholder is that this choice is linked to an actual choice that is available in Compare screen and the progress status is being 'Assigned'.
To create a repeat choice,
Open the 'Compare' mode by clicking on the Compare button
Select your reference repeat choice(s)
Right click on the Compare grid and
Select 'Repeat' option
Please note that, in order to save your placeholder, you need to enter a Cluster Group for that choice.
Extending a choice
If your use case is to extend an existing choice which is exactly the same actual choice that you refer in previous assortments, then you can use the 'Compare' functionality and 'Extend' to create a new placeholder. You can use this to continue a choice from previous assortments into the new assortment timeframe.
This option will not create a new choice but will extend the end date of the reference choice
the End Date is extended to the Assortment's End Date
Launch date is not changed
no attributes are changed
ROS Model is defined by the choice id that is defined in choice definition-
To extend a choice,
Open the 'Compare' mode by clicking on the Compare button
Select your reference extend choice(s)
Right click on the Compare grid and
Select 'Extend' option
Please note that, in order to save your placeholder, you need to enter a Cluster Group for that choice.
Creating a choice from Style Bank mode
If your use case is to create an actual choice which is exactly the same actual choice that is available on Style Bank either from your PLM or ERP system, then you can use the 'Style Bank' mode and 'Create a new choice' to create a new actual choice.
This option will create a new assigned choice with
same Launch and End Date as Assortment
same attributes as the reference choice
Note that ROS Model will not be applied to this choice
To create a new actual choice,
Open the 'Style Bank' mode by clicking on the Style Bank button
Select your actual choice(s)
Right click on the Style Bank grid and
Select 'Create new choice' option
Please note that, in order to save your choice, you need to enter a Cluster Group for that choice.
Configuring which attributes to be carried forward
Through the configuration settings, you'd want to configure which attributes to be carried forward from Actual Choice to Choice. To do this, please follow the steps below:
Navigate to Toolio Settings page > Attributes under Data Management
From Model: ActualChoice, right click on the attribute that you'd like to set as Carry Forward
Then select 'Set Attribute As Carry Forward'
System will show a success banner when it is set successfully
