Overview

Line planning often requires referencing historic data. Toolio makes it easy for you to see historic metrics and attributes side by side when building your line plan. Then you can assign like-for-like products for your placeholder products to use this historic data to build your Rate of Sale (ROS) Model which will be used in Forecast for your Sales Plan.

Enabling Compare mode

To enable Compare mode, please make sure that you are selected into an Assortment Plan. By clicking on the Compare button, system will open the Compare mode on the left hand side of your screen. You can resize your divided screen by dragging the divider.

As in the planning mode, you have both the View selector as well as Data-set selector for Compare mode.

  • You can group both the choices and time-groups, and sort the data and save these selections to a View.

    • Through the view component, you can add/remove any actual and plan metrics and attributes that you like.

  • You can filter the choice and time-frame that you'd like to use and save these selections to a Data-set.

  • You can set default View and Dataset for the Compare mode so that those would be use as you open the Compare mode.

Please note that your default data-sets on Compare mode will be overwritten by the filters you defined on your assortment plan to make sure that you are always looking at the correct data-set per your defined assortment criteria.

When you want to exit Compare mode, click on the same 'Compare' button.

Assigning a Like-for-Like choice

If your use case is to assign an existing historic like-for-like choice to a new placeholder that you created on the planning screen, then you can use the 'Compare' functionality and drag-and-drop a choice from Compare mode onto a placeholder choice on the planning screen as seen in the screenshot below.

Once you assign a choice, you'll be prompted with a confirmation dialog, hit Accept. Then, double click on ROS Model attribute for the assigned choice, you'll see that

  • Choice id is based on your reference like-for-like choice

  • Timeframe is based on the timeframe selected on the Compare function

Creating a new choice from Compare mode

You can create new choices from Compare mode using Extend, Repeat and Create Like-for-Like placeholder options. Please see this article for more information.
