The Hierarchy Summary page answers the question one level up from a single product: how is this part of the business trading? It takes any node of your product hierarchy, a Division, a Department, a Category, and puts its inventory, recent sales, subcategory breakdown, and full assortment onto one screen.
It is the same idea as the Product Summary page, one level up. Product Summary answers "how is this product doing"; Hierarchy Summary answers "how is this category doing, and which products are driving it".
Hierarchy Summary is read-only. Nothing on the page edits your plan, so it is safe to open at any point in your workflow.
💡 Hierarchy Summary is only available to customers with Assortment Plan enabled. The page reads choice actuals, so it does not appear if your account does not use Assortment Plan.
Use Cases
You want to know how a category is trading this month without building a view or applying filters in a plan.
A category looks overstocked and you want to see which subcategory and which styles are carrying the inventory.
You want to compare how the same category performs in Ecommerce versus Retail or Wholesale.
You are preparing for a review and need weeks of supply, sell-through, and the recent sales trend for a department in a few seconds.
You want to find the products inside a category that have stopped selling but still hold stock.
How to Open the Hierarchy Summary Page
Hierarchy Summary is not in the top navigation. You open it from the command bar.
Press
CMD+Kon Mac, orCTRL+Kon Windows, from anywhere in Toolio.Start typing the name of the category, department, or division you want.
Look at the Hierarchy section of the results.
Press
Enteron the highlighted row, or click the row you want.
See Command Bar for Quick Search for how the command bar works in general.
Each row shows the node's name and its level, with the path above it. That path matters when the same name appears in more than one place: a Category called Baselayer can exist under Womens, Mens, and Kids, and each is a separate row that opens its own page.
What Is on the Page
Node Header
The header names the node you are looking at and the window the figures cover. The breadcrumb above it shows the full path, and each ancestor is a link, so you can move up a level without going back to the command bar.
Channel
Channel filters sit in the header, next to the node's name. Selecting one re-reads the entire page for that channel: the KPIs, the weekly sales chart, the breakdown, and the assortment all describe that channel alone. The percentage on each channel is its share of the node's sales, so you can see the split before you click.
Channels come from your automated cluster setup. If your tenant does not use channels, the filter does not appear.
KPI Tiles
Eight tiles summarize the node over the trailing window: last week's units, units sold over the last four weeks, return rate, allowance rate, on hand, on order, weeks of supply, and how many locations sold the node. Weeks of supply also carries a status of Healthy, Heavy, or Overstocked, so you can judge the position at a glance.
Breakdown
The left rail lists the level directly beneath the node, with each child's share of sales, its sales value, units, and weeks of supply. Clicking a row opens that child's own Hierarchy Summary page.
Weekly Sales
The chart shows sales units and receipt units by fiscal week, with the allowance rate over the top. The last week in the window is still in progress, so it is expected to read low.
Assortment
The assortment panel shows every style or color under the node. In Treemap view, each tile's area is its share of sales retail over the last four completed weeks, so the biggest tiles are the products carrying the category. Switch to Grid for the same products as a sortable table. Clicking a tile shows that product's detail beside the map, with a link through to its Product Summary page.
You can size the treemap by Sales or by On hand. Sizing by on hand is the quickest way to see where inventory is sitting relative to what is selling.
Looking at a Single Product
Clicking a tile selects it and shows that product beside the map: its name, its ID, and the same measures the category header carries, so you can judge one product in the same terms you just judged the category. Open Product Summary takes you through to the full Product Summary page for that product.
FAQs
Which products count as being in a category?
The page reads choice actuals, so a product appears under the node its actuals are filed against. Products with no recorded sales, stock, or open orders in the window are left out.
